Platforms
| Platform | Package | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Windows 10 (2004 or later) and Windows 11, x64 and Arm64 | Microsoft Store app 2.2.6 | The app and its Windows service |
| Linux x64 | Docker images 2.5.2 | softwaretailor/aiserver, aigateway; aiserver-pro needs NVIDIA driver r580+ |
| Kubernetes 1.23 or later | Helm chart 0.2.2, Kustomize manifests | Uses autoscaling/v2 and policy/v1; NetworkPolicy needs an enforcing CNI |
| Azure (AKS), AWS (EKS) | Marketplace Kubernetes applications | Bring your own licence |
| macOS | — | No server app yet; macOS AI Suite apps use a server on the network |
Clients on other computers — AI Suite apps and AI Client, and any OpenAI-compatible tool on any operating system — use a server over the network.
Versions
- The Windows app and the container images have separate version numbers; each release note says which it applies to.
- Minor and patch releases keep the API, settings files and data folder compatible: upgrade in place.
- Breaking changes are announced in advance in the release notes and on this page, with what to do.
- The API follows OpenAI's: new OpenAI fields are added as engines support them; existing request and response fields keep their meaning.
Support
- Fixes ship in new releases, not as patches to old ones, so the current release is the supported one. Keep up to date — see upgrades.
- If you need to stay on an older version for a while, tell support which one and why.
Legacy local-AI API
AI Server 2.0.1 served a different local-AI API (/api/chat, /api/generate, /api/embed, /api/tags…). Servers upgraded from it keep serving that API on port 11434 so existing integrations keep working during migration.
| End date | 2026-12-31. After that the listener no longer starts. |
|---|---|
| On Free | Listens on the server's own computer only; requests count against the Free allowance |
| On Personal and Commercial | Can listen on the network; no API keys (it predates them), so firewall it |
| Replacement | The /v1 API — see migrate |
Deprecations in effect
| Change | Since | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| New API keys have no administration rights unless granted | 2026-10 | Older keys keep them; reissue monitoring keys with Allow server administration |
| Gateway mode requires Pro Commercial | 2026-10 | Personal servers can serve the network, not a gateway |
Helm value license.server replaced by license.registrationUrl | Chart 0.2.1 | The old value still works |
Questions
Will my OpenAI-based code keep working after upgrades? +
Yes. The /v1 API follows OpenAI's; fields are not removed or redefined without notice in the release notes.
Can I run an older container version? +
Yes, but it receives no fixes, and very old images may not accept new licence leases after a signing-key change. Stay within the supported versions.
